Power Package: Government Decisions on Electricity Industry Reform
Government Decisions Following the Ministerial Inquiry
On 3 October 2000, the Government announced a comprehensive policy package designed to deliver fairness and transparency for electricity consumers. The announcement followed the Caygill Inquiry into the Electricity Industry. The Inquiry's recommendations were accepted, either directly or in a modified form.
On 7 December 2000, the Government released the final version of its Policy Statement.
