Facilitating the deployment of broadband infrastructure
The Government is consulting on a range of regulatory and non-regulatory measures that will support the roll-out of both the government's recently announced ultra-fast broadband investment initiative and the government's rural broadband strategy.
On 7 October 2009, Communications and Information Technology Minister Steven Joyce released a discussion document seeking comments on measures related to access to support structures and services, access to land and Resource Management Act controls for public comment.
The closing date for submissions has been extended to 5.00pm, Friday 27 November 2009.
Submitters will also have the opportunity to make cross-submissions until Friday 11 December 2009.
Workshops
The Ministry hosted workshops on issues addressed in the discussion document in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland on 12, 14 and 16 October 2009.
