Electricity (Hazards from Trees) Regulations
On 18 December 2003 the Government promulgated the Electricity (Hazards from Trees) Regulations 2003. The policy objective of the Regulations is to promote uninterrupted supply of electricity by reducing outages, fluctuations in electricity supply and other hazards, including the risks of fire and human injury caused by the proximity of trees to electricity lines. The Regulations also define the respective rights and obligations of tree owners and line owners with regard to power lines near trees.
