Trading with Australia

Australia is our most important economic partner and the largest market for New Zealand goods and services. Much progress has been made in removing trade barriers and The Ministry aims to build on this by reducing differences in our regulatory institutions and regulation of business activities.

The Ministry collaborates with agencies on both sides of the Tasman to create a seamless trans-Tasman market where businesses need only comply with one set of rules. We also work with other New Zealand agencies and our Australian counterparts to create more of a joint trans-Tasman approach to connecting with the rest of the world.
