New Zealand Tariffs
The Ministry provides policy advice on New Zealand's tariff regime and other tariff and border issues. It also has responsibility for the administration of tariff concessions for imported goods.
The New Zealand Tariff is divided into two parts. Part I (The Standard Tariff) sets out the classification of all goods in international trade together with the rates of duty on importation into New Zealand. Part II (Concessions) sets out various tariff concession categories. The most used concession category is Concession Reference No. 99 under which the duty that would otherwise be levied under Part I of the Tariff may be removed if suitable alternative goods are not produced in New Zealand.
