Trade Remedies


The Ministry provides policy advice to the New Zealand Government on trade remedies matters, represents New Zealand at international trade remedies forums and is responsible for the administration of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988 and the Temporary Safeguard Authorities Act 1987.

  • Gathering information about Trade Remedy mechanisms
    The Ministry has undertaken a project to clearly identify any concerns about the trade remedies regime. Feedback from industry groups, Chambers of Commerce, consultants, lawyers, and other interested parties is being considered to enhance Remedy processes
  • Review of the Temporary Safeguard Authorities Act 1987
    This Act provides for inquiries to be undertaken into sudden increases in imported goods by Temporary Safeguard Authorities and for recommendations to be made to the Minister of Commerce about whether urgent temporary safeguard measures should be imposed.
  • Briefing Paper: WTO Doha Rules Group Negotiations on Dumping and Subsidies
    The attached briefing paper is an update on where the World Trade Organisation's Doha negotiations on the Anti-Dumping and Subsidies and Countervailing Measures Agreements are as at mid April 2008.
