There are a number of services to assist during businesses during the start-up phase.
The www.business.govt.nz portal is the whole-of-government business portal designed to make it easier to run your business. It provides information and a gateway to business resources.
The site includes easy-to-understand information on tax, employing staff, workplace safety and health, ACC and other key compliance areas. It links into relevant government sites enabling visitors to get greater details on their topics of interest. The site also includes information on business training, online training, grants, finance, tips on good business practice, e-business, exporting, growing your business, and other topical business areas. The site has been designed and written with the needs of small to medium sized businesses in mind.
The New Zealand Trade and Enterprise website also provides useful links and information.
The Economic Development Association of New Zealand (EDANZ) is a national association that promotes economic development, business growth and export opportunities in New Zealand. It consists of 76 regional Economic Development Agencies that are able to provide a range of services to local businesses.
The Māori Business Facilitation Service is a free business development service for Māori interested in starting-up a business or wanting to improve an existing business. The service is for commercial opportunities only, and targets small to medium-sized businesses. It operates from the Te Puni Kōkiri and Māori Trust Office regional offices.
The Pacific Business Trust ensures New Zealanders of Pacific descent who are either starting a business or expanding an existing one, do so with the best possible support and financial advice available. This support covers a wide range of business services, such as mentoring, venture funding, financial management and advice. The Trust runs seminars and workshops to assist in planning the next business step on which a company can embark.
