Small Business Advisory Group


The first Small Business Advisory Group was appointed in October 2003. The second group was appointed in December 2006. The current members of SBAG are:

  • Jenny Agnew, Auckland, skin care products;
  • Paul Bayly, Auckland, financial sector;
  • Lynn Currie, Arrowtown, fashion sector;
  • Robyn de Bruin-Judge, North Shore, furniture design and manufacture;
  • Deborah Hart, Wellington, photography;
  • John Holm, Christchurch, engineer, manufacture;
  • Daphne Luke, Otaki, Māori economic development;
  • Ronnie Matafeo, Auckland, quantity surveying;
  • Rod Meharry, Rotorua, event signage;
  • Frank van der Velden, Auckland, IT and marketing; and
  • Claire Vogtherr, Hawkes Bay, food sector.

They provide a small business view on the development of policy related to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The full Terms of Reference has more detail.

On 25 August 2004, the Group released its first SBAG Report to the Minister of Small Business.

In December 2005 the government released its response to the Small Business Advisory Group's first report.

On 27 February 2006, the Group released its second Report to the Minister of Small Business.

On 24 October 2006 the government released its response to the Small Business Advisory Group’s second report.

On 15 April 2008 the government released its third report to the Minister of Small Business.
