Planning for and Monitoring Economic Well-Being
A Ministry of Economic Development resource for Regional and Local Authorities and their communities
Welcome to the Ministry of Economic Development's web pages on planning for and monitoring economic well-being.
This is stage one in the development of a resource which is aimed at regional and local authorities, and their communities, as they/you work through the community outcomes and planning processes associated with the Local Government Act 2002. It is not intended as a detailed instruction manual on how to plan for economic well-being for your communities, but rather as a source of information that provides:
- a summary of the government's economic objectives
- and how local and regional-level activities impact on national economic well-being
- an overview of the key drivers of economic well-being
- crucial at a national level, these drivers should also feature in the thinking behind regional and local planning
- a summary of who, across central government, is working on each of these drivers
- to help you identify where to go for further information on specific aspects of economic well-being
- access to a range of potentially useful resources
- to inform your planning for economic well-being
- information on and links to monitoring tools
- for use in monitoring aspects of your community's well-being
