• Renewables Preference Policy
  Information and documents relating to the government's renewables preference.
• Review of the Continuance of Supply Obligation (2013 review)
  The Ministry will be reviewing the Continuance of Supply Obligation (Clause 62 of the Electricity Act 1992) throughout 2007. The Terms of Reference outlines the proposed scope of the review, review process and timeframe.
• Biofuel Blend Waivers
  The Petroleum Products Specifications Regulations will allow waivers for certain volatility properties for ethanol/petrol blends of more than 1% and up to 10% volume ethanol.
• Facilitating Investment in Generation by Lines Companies
  The 2006 discussion paper on facilitating investment in electricity generation by lines companies builds on the discussion note consulted on in March 2005, outlining a proposal to allow lines companies to trade in electricity hedges and spot markets up to certain limits.
• Jurisdiction under Part 4A of the Commerce Act in Respect of Transpower
  The Ministry has prepared a discussion paper, on behalf of the Minister of Energy, to canvass the views of interested parties on a proposal to modify the regulatory arrangements for Transpower.

• National Guidance on Infrastructure
  National Policy Statements (NPSs) and National Environmental Standards (NESs) are mechanisms for providing national policy guidance to local authorities on matters of national significance. As part of the 2004 review of the Resource Management Act, Cabinet invited the Minister for the Environment and the Minister for Economic Development to consider NPSs and NESs for the infrastructural issues to improve expression of the national interest.
• Review of Issues Affecting Utilities and Road, Rail and Motorway Corridors
  On 20 October 2004, the Cabinet Policy Committee (POL) directed officials to report back to POL by 31 October 2005 on wider issues related to utility access on the road and rail corridor, including cost sharing arrangements.
