The Ministry is responsible for assisting other agencies by preparing projections of New Zealand's energy and industrial process emissions of greenhouse gases. These projections assist in gauging New Zealand's efforts to control emissions under various international agreements (including the Kyoto Protocol), inform the New Zealand government for future policy, and meet New Zealand's reporting obligations to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

  This publication updates New Zealand's projected quantity of emissions and removals of greenhouse gases during the first commitment period (2008-2012) of the Kyoto Protocol. Projections for the energy and industrial processes sectors are from the Ministry of Economic Development.

  This publication updates New Zealand's progress towards its commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and towards implementation of the Kyoto Protocol. Projections for the energy, transport, and industrial processes sectors are from the Ministry of Economic Development.
