The document is a PDF form.  You can either print the document and fill-out by hand, or complete the form electronically and then print it.  If you do the latter then note:

  1. A form opened using Acrobat Reader and then partially or wholly completed, cannot be saved as a file and re-opened later.
  2. The completed form should be printed immediately in order to preserve the data.
  3. Closing the window in which the form is displayed will cause all previously input data to be lost.
  4. To navigate within the form:
    1. Use the Tab key to navigate forwards from field to field;
    2. Use Shift+Tab or mouse to navigate backwards;

Notes to the Form

Note 1

A supporting statement must be attached to the application. It should include:

  1. The purpose and function for which the goods are to be used.
  2. Illustrations, brochures, leaflets, photo, diagrams or any other literature to describe the goods.
  3. The reasons which preclude local manufacture or the use of locally manufactured goods.

Note 2

Insert tariff item. It is not compulsory for applicants to obtain formal tariff classification opinions from the New Zealand Customs Service. However, it should be noted that a concession is considered invalid at the border if the classification is incorrect.

Note 3

The description of goods must accurately define the goods concerned and be capable of consistent enforcement at the border.

Other Information

  1. Applications may not be accepted by the Ministry if they are deficient in respect of any of the above information, or if not accompanied by the prescribed fee.
  2. Applications for Woven Fabrics Containing Wool for Use in the Manufacture of Apparel: These applications require an additional form to be completed as well as the standard application form. Up to ten fabrics may be included on the one application form. Each information sheet must also include a sample of the fabric applied for.
  3. Concessions are approved effective from the first day of the month in which the application is received by the Head Office of the Ministry of Economic Development.
