Importing and Exporting Hazardous and Toxic Chemicals (Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions)
New Zealand has ratified the Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions which place restrictions on the import and export of specified hazardous and toxic chemicals.
Following consultation in 2003 on the implementation of the Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, the Imports and Exports (Restrictions) Prohibition Order (No 2) 2004 came into force. This outlines when these hazardous and toxic chemicals may be exported and contains lists of the chemicals as Annexes.
