New Zealand's Energy Outlook
New Zealand’s Energy Outlook sets out long-term projections of New Zealand’s energy supply, demand and energy sector greenhouse gas emissions under a variety of assumptions. These projections are aimed at informing the energy policy debate.
Whereas previous editions of New Zealand’s Energy Outlook have been released as a single publication on a periodic basis, the new approach is for an annual release of short topic-specific articles supported by detailed data tables.
The articles are to be released in two stages. This first set of articles present forecasts for a Reference Scenario and a range of key macroeconomic sensitivities: oil price, emissions price and economic growth (GDP). The second set of articles will present scenarios “seeking solutions” to our energy challenges.
Not all scenarios can be explored in any given year, and we welcome any suggestions for scenarios that can be developed for future work.
