Online Survey Gives Businesses Benchmarking Tool - 12 December 2005

The questionnaire developed by the Ministry of Economic Development for use in its latest Business Practice and Performance Survey, published today as Firm Foundations, is now available online for use by businesses keen to improve their performance. Completing it is a 20 minute task, and results are available immediately.
"The idea is that firms complete the questionnaire and discuss the results with their business advisors. They can use it to analyse current performance and to identify areas where more attention is needed," study authors Stephen Knuckey and Hayden Johnston said.
"It's a simple, practical spin off from this survey and we hope that people will find it useful as they develop their own programmes for business improvement."
A further spin off from the Firm Foundations project is the joint Industry New Zealand and Standards New Zealand publication Foundations for Growth: A New Zealand Guide to Business Improvement. This guide to business improvement and business excellence is aimed at established businesses wanting to grow. It is available from BIZInfo Centres along with the latest update of Planning for Success: A Do it Yourself Kit for Developing Your Own Business Plan. Both publications are free of charge.
