Deputy Secretary, Energy and Communications Branch
Bruce Parkes is starting with the Ministry of Economic Development in February 2009 as the Deputy Secretary of the Energy and Communications Branch.
Bruce has spent his career to date working in the energy and telecommunications sectors, often operating at the interface between business and public policy.
He started long ago in the Ministry of Energy, and then moved to the Electricity Corporation. In 1993 he joined Telecom, where he stayed for around 12 years, performing a range of roles. In 2006 he returned to the energy sector as part of Contact Energy’s senior management team, with responsibility for Corporate Affairs.
