Workplace Productivity Project - Report to Government
[ Last Updated 19 August 2008 ]
The Workplace Productivity Working Group (WPWG) was established by government in February 2004 to determine ways that New Zealand can boost improved workplace productivity to deliver a high wage, high value economy for the benefit of all New Zealanders.
The group comprised industry, business, union and government agency representatives.
Improving workplace productivity is not about working harder but about working smarter. It involves continuous innovation and improvement in all aspects of the firm's management and operations in order to deliver sustainable competitive advantage. The main ways that workplace productivity can be increased are through investing in capital; achieving economies of scale; investing in innovation and technology; and adopting better business practices.
The WPWG Report is now complete and consensus on how to take the Workplace Productivity Agenda forward has been reached by all partners, including business, unions, and government. To receive a copy of the WPWG Report and information on government's response go to the WPWG website.
