The Ministry of Economic Development provides access to consumer issues for business via the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.  The intention is to help achieve a fair and informed marketplace.  The Ministry of Consumer Affairs also provides information on the obligations and responsibilities of businesses, from manufacturers to importers to car dealers to shop retailers, when providing goods and/or services to New Zealand consumers.

In addition it also provides an overview of consumer rights and remedies if a business breaches its legal obligations.
