We are still continuing to receive submissions and are expecting more to come. This being the case, the final date for submissions has been set at 31 October 2002.
We are intending to begin another round of consultation with industry and other interested parties possibly starting late September. If you wish to register an interest in this process please email graeme.horne@med.govt.nz, or call Graeme Horne at 04-470 2359 or Clinton Watson at 04-474 2184. If you have already expressed such an interest there is no need to re-register.
Key work undertaken since the last update includes:
- case study work on individual companies to try and better gauge the effect of tariffs at the firm level;
- a random mail survey of businesses to ascertain the impact of tariffs on their operations;
- analysing the submissions received so far;
- examining the effects of previous tariff reductions; and
- gathering and analysing statistical data.
Infometrics Consulting has led the case study and mail survey work as part of their contribution to the Tariff Review.
