Submissions Procedure

[ Last Updated 27 January 2006 ]
Status:Archived

Updated to 19 March 2003

Submissions should be prepared on the basis of the Terms of Reference, in particular section 7 a-e. In your submission it would be helpful, however, if you could pay particular attention to the questions below.

  • What have been the effects of tariff reduction on your firm, or sector, in relation to both inputs (raw materials and components) and outputs (finished goods)?
  • What business adjustment strategies have been implemented to meet a more competitive business environment? (Individual firms should comment on their own experiences.)
  • How would your firm/sector be affected by further tariff reduction/removal post-2005?
  • What do you consider are the general implications of further tariff reductions for business, employees, consumers and exporters?
  • What are your views on the timing/pace of any further tariff reductions/removal?
  • Is there a case for differing rates of tariff reduction for different business sectors?
  • How important is it to your firm/sector that the current policy of non-withdrawal of tariff concessions remains in place?
  • Aside from tariffs, what other factors influence the competitiveness of your business, and how do tariffs rate in importance in comparison with these other factors?

The above questions are largely aimed at individual firms and industry groups. This does not preclude other groups or individuals from raising other tariff related issues.

Form of Submissions

Written submissions were extended until the 10 April 2003.

Submissions do not need to follow any particular form. Those wishing to make a submission need not address all of the above issues if these are not of interest or relevance.

Anyone making a submission should identify information that they would prefer not to be publicly disclosed. Any commercially sensitive information referred to in a submission should be clearly marked CONFIDENTIAL.

Please send your submissions to graeme.horne@med.govt.nz or post to:
