Integral Energy Australia Technical Reports - 8 May 1998

Technical reports on the Auckland Power Supply Failure have been received today by the Ministerial Inquiry.
Integral Energy of Australia were retained to provide reports on the planning and operation of Mercury Energy’s electricity supply to the Auckland CBD, and on the design operation and failure of the supply cables.
The Inquiry is currently reviewing the reports.
In accordance with the direction of the Minister of Energy in his terms of reference to the Inquiry, the reports will be made publicly available at 2 pm on Friday 8 May 1998.
It is emphasised that the receipt of these reports by the Inquiry is simply a further step in a continuing investigation.
The report comprises Integral Energy’s advice to the Inquiry as experts, and will be the subject of further analysis by the Inquiry.
In addition, public submissions are sought. A formal notice seeking submissions will be issued in the New Zealand Herald on 9 May 1998.
A summary of the technical reports, and the full text of the reports themselves, will be available on the Inquiry Website ( http://www.moc.govt.nz/inquiry ).
As the Inquiry is still in process, there will be no comment by the Inquiry on the reports or their findings at this time.
Members of the Inquiry are Hugh Rennie QC (Chairman), Don Sollitt and Keith Turner.
Note:
1. The Inquiry has made the following arrangements for the release of the report. The report will be publicly available from 2 pm on Friday 8 May. However, EMBARGOED COPIES will be available to members of the media from 12 noon on Friday 8 May from Mr Guy Caro at the Ministry of Commerce, 6th floor, District Court Building, 3 Kingston Street, Auckland.
Those wishing to uplift embargoed copies will be asked to sign an embargo form agreeing not to release any information prior to 2 pm on Friday 8 May 1998.
