Quarterly Gas Questionnaires

1. The Gas (Statistics) Regulations 1997 enables the Ministry to collect quarterly gas statistics from natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) enterprises. The returns apply to the quarters ending March, June, September and December.
2. The Ministry will inform the companies from which such statistics are required by means of a notice that will include questionnaires detailing the information to be returned. Notices are normally served after the end of the quarter, and returns required by six weeks after the end of the quarter.
3. The quarterly gas returns are referred to as the MED-G series:
- MED-GP for biogas and landfill gas producers;
- MED-GWR for gas wholesalers and gas retailers;
- MED-GT for gas transmitters;
- MED-GD for gas distributors;
The quarterly LPG returns are referred to as the MED-L series:
- MED-LW for LPG wholesalers;
- MED-LR for gas retailers;
4. Companies may be required to complete more than one of these returns.
5. Electronic versions of the above returns are now available as MS Excel 97 files. Please choose the appropriate return that you want to download.
(It is best to use the "Save Target As..." (or equivalent) function of your browser to save a file to a local drive (usually found by right-clicking on the link). If you follow a link directly, make sure that MS Excel is running on your system first.)
6. Once your returns are completed and checked, please return these to the Ministry of Economic Development electronically to energydata@med.govt.nz.
