Ministerial Panel on Business Compliance Costs
In 2000, the government established the 11-member Ministerial Panel on Business Compliance Costs ("the Panel"). The Panel submitted 162 recommendations to the government on ways to reduce compliance costs for business.
In 2001, the government responded to the Panel's recommendations, publishing Striking the Balance. The government indicated it did not agree with, and would therefore not be implementing approximately 15% of the recommendations. These recommendations, and the government's responses (from Striking the Balance) are outlined below.
