This paper provides a high level overview of some key features of the financial intermediary industry. It is a preliminary working paper as at February 2005 and has not been updated to reflect developments in thinking since that date. In particular, it is focussed predominantly on investment and to a lesser extent risk products. It does not reflect the Task Force's additional emphasis on credit, investment property and general risk products. Work on industry features since that date has been incorporated and/or reflected in the Task Force's Consultation Paper - Options for Change.
