Released today, this publication presents quarterly statistics on the supply of major fuels, electricity generation and greenhouse gas emissions, and fuel prices to the end of September 2008.
This quarter:
- Great volatility in world oil markets saw record crude prices followed by a dramatic fall.
- Record prices at the pump in New Zealand for both petrol and diesel.
- Domestic oil production at its highest level for a 12-month period.
- Lake storage levels stabilised leading to a 30% increase in hydro electricity generation.
- Geothermal electricity generation tipped 1000 GWh for the first time.
