This report examines the economics of producing, transporting, and consuming hydrogen vehicle fuel in New Zealand, including greenhouse gas emissions and local environmental impacts. Five supply chains for hydrogen are considered: small-scale production of hydrogen on service station forecourts from electricity or from gas, and large-scale hydrogen production in centralized plants from electricity, from natural gas with carbon capture and storage (CCS), or from lignite with CCS. The report was prepared by CRL Energy.
