Short Description
Background on the Procurement Advisory Group, which is responsible for undertaking contract reviews in consultation with the Ministry of Economic Development.
What is PAG?
The Procurement Advisory Group (PAG) comprises senior procurement managers and advisors from a range of government agencies and sectors. PAG works collaboratively to promote best practice government procurement and act as a change agent within the broader, all-of-government setting. PAG is a strong supporter of efforts to increase knowledge and expertise amongst government procurement practitioners.
PAG is a valued contributor of advice and operational perspectives for consultation on the implementation of the Government Procurement Policy Framework.
PAG also plays an important role in leading and fostering collaborative procurement in the government market, demonstrated by Cabinet's decision in May 2007 (CAB MIN(07)17/2B) to give PAG responsibility for reviewing and endorsing syndicated procurement contracts and clauses, in consultation with the Ministry of Economic Development.
Background
PAG was formed by several large agencies in the year 2000 with the aim of achieving increased savings and efficiencies in their procurement activities. PAG has been instrumental in the development and promotion of syndicated procurement arrangements. PAG members have negotiated a range of syndicated procurement contracts with vendors.
PAG has also taken an active role in ensuring practitioners have access to training on government procurement. PAG developed and ran a series of workshops on various elements of the procurement function and helped establish the successful public sector procurement training programme.
Meetings
PAG meets at the Ministry of Economic Development in Wellington on the last Friday of every month.
Contact
The Ministry of Economic Development provides PAG with administrative support and acts as its point of contact. Messages, indicating that the intended recipient is PAG, can be sent to the Ministry's Government Procurement Development Group at procurement@med.govt.nz.
