13. Transfer of Staff to SOEs
In order to minimise the redundancies arising from the split, the new SOEs are required to offer employment to all ECNZ's existing staff located at the power stations and in the regional group offices on the same terms and conditions as they currently are employed. Accordingly each of the SOEs will establish a superannuation scheme which mirrors the current ECNZ Retirement Savings Plan for their transferring employees.
Since two of the corporate offices are planned to be outside Wellington, most of ECNZ's management and administrative staff will be entitled to redundancy. ERTU has however advised the IDGs that in employing any ECNZ management and administrative staff they should minimise the cost of any redundancy.
