Roles
The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) is a nationwide network of mayors working towards a shared goal:
- that all young people under 25 years be engaged in appropriate education, training, work or other activities that contribute to their long-term economic independence.
The objectives of the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs are:
- to provide a national focus of leadership on youth transition issues through cooperation between Mayors concerned about youth in transition in their communities
- to encourage agency collaboration and flexibility at the local level
- to ensure local government is consulted and aware of government policy and programmes at the local level before delivery
- to share best practice on what we can achieve on youth transitions at the local level
- to encourage young people to participate with the Taskforce to achieve the Taskforce vision
- to provide positive work, education, training and community connection opportunities to enable young people to make successful transitions
- to positively influence central government policy to achieve the Taskforce vision.
- to build communities where young people have the ability to become the very best they can be.

Funding
The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs works in partnership with government agencies, business and the philanthropic sector. A number of funding programmes support the Taskforce's work on youth employment. In most cases Mayors must be involved in any application for funding. Funds available are:
