Roles
EDANZ is the umbrella membership organisation of the 70 EDAs around New Zealand.
EDAs play a key role in the economic development of their regions and local communities, however that may be defined by their local stakeholders. This will typically involve building business capability and networks, global connectedness, workforce capability, and identifying strategic infrastructure needs.
EDAs know their local communities, businesses, exporters and skill and infrastructure needs. EDAs actively engage in a number of activities and form local partnerships and collaborations to further economic development in their local communities.
One of the roles of EDANZ is to harness the practical knowledge and capability that exists in the EDA network. EDANZ then shares that knowledge with the EDA network to inform good practice, and with the key policy agencies to inform policy making. The EDANZ Professional Development programme is tailored to build on existing strengths around partnership and to ensure the widest possible collaboration.
Information

Funding
EDANZ is funded via a mix of membership subscriptions and contract delivery. EDANZ does not provide funding. EDAs are typically funded through a mix of local government, contract delivery (e.g. NZTE) and, in some cases, private sector funding. As well as accessing national programmes themselves, EDAs will assist local businesses to access appropriate grants and programmes.
