Roles
Labour Market Knowledge Managers
The Department has 16 regionally based Labour Market Knowledge Managers who work with key labour market players on labour market strategies and initiatives. They bring expertise in labour market strategies and build relationships with regional/sector bodies and develop an understanding of sector/regional needs and the characteristics and drivers of local labour markets to help identify local issues, trends, constraints and opportunities.
Labour Market Knowledge Managers are supported by a head office team of specialists in labour market information and analysis, sector and regional development, labour market issues and strategic policies (employment and skills, workplace practices and immigration).
Relationship Managers
The Department's Relationship Managers maintain and develop relationships to support immigration needs. They also provide policy advice and information about migration related opportunities and specific marketing and recruitment opportunities.
With networks across the world, they provide the link between the department and migrants both on and offshore - gathering knowledge, managing perceptions, and promoting New Zealand as an attractive destination for skilled migrants.
Workplace Services
Workplace Services provides a range of services in the areas of employment relations (including mediation), workplace practices and workplace health and safety. Raising productivity and the quality of working lives is a key focus for this group.
Small Business Information Unit
Advisors from this unit provide targeted information and assistance to small businesses and the small business sector on workplace issues and opportunities.
