Non-Departmental Output Expense: Foundation Services – Business Information and Advice

The unappropriated expenditure is a consequence of the higher than budgeted amount of overheads required to deliver business information and advice services.

Non-Departmental Output Expense: Growth Services – Customised Information and Advice

The unappropriated expenditure is a consequence of the higher than forecast cost of maintaining New Zealand Trade and Enterprise's offshore network. In particular:

  • overseas rent and personnel costs were higher than anticipated, especially in relation to statutory inflation-based adjustments to wages in some countries;
  • the secondment costs of transfers from New Zealand to overseas offices were higher than anticipated; and
  • the cost of redundancies was forecast to be covered by savings in travel costs, but these travel savings were not fully achieved.
