| Agriculture still forms a significant part of the economy | Figure 1 illustrates the structure of businesses in New Zealand, highlighting the significance of the agricultural sector. 23 percent of all private enterprises are involved in the agricultural sector, accounting for 8 percent of private sector employment. The majority of these farms are small, with the agricultural sector making up 25 percent of all small (0-5 FTEs) private enterprises and 23 percent of employment in these enterprises. |
