SMEs Contribution to Output
SMEs account for one third of New Zealand's output
Using value added8 as a measure of the contribution of SMEs to total output in the economy, we can see from figure 8 that SMEs accounted for 36 percent ($24,592m) of total output in 2001, with small enterprises making up just over half ($13,608m) of this portion. Total value added for 2001 is estimated to be $67,729m (expressed in 1997 dollars).
