Appendix 2: Criteria for International Market Development Assistance
International market development activities include new market investigation, trade fair participation, trade/business missions, business exchanges and visiting buyers.
Funding is available to an Export Network, which is a group of three or more New Zealand exporters co-operating strategically to increase their foreign exchange earnings. All members must be New Zealand tax registered companies with no common ownership. Companies retain their own identity within the network and normally carry their share of any costs.
For international business exchanges, an individual business may apply.
Eligible Costs
Approval will be given for specific activities up to a maximum amount and could cover:
- A daily allowance for accommodation, transport and incidental costs for every full day spent in a region and an airfare allowance for international travel based on the regions visited
- Other activities may be reimbursed, subject to agreement, to a maximum of 50% based on receipts including:
- Trade fair registration, stand design, exhibition costs and freight costs for product samples
- Appropriate group marketing and publicity material
- Airfare to New Zealand for a strategic buyer, internal New Zealand flights or travel and accommodation
Ineligible Costs
The following activities cannot be supported:
- The purchase of in-house services
- Any in-kind contribution or time
- The cost of attending meetings in New Zealand
- The cost of individual meals, entertainment, phone calls, gifts and other incidental expenses (included in the daily rates)
- Individual marketing materials
