Strategic Business Plan: 1999 and Beyond

Ministry of Commerce
[ Last Updated 9 March 2006 ]

The branches of Commerce have their own annual business plans. All of Commerce's high level outputs - including the Key Result Areas, milestones and significant projects - as identified in the six purchase agreements with Ministers and the Estimates are specified in one or another of these branch plans.

In this way, branch planning and activity fully reflect the Government's strategic directions and Commerce's KRAs.

The branch plans also provide further detail of output activity, internal management and ownership activity, funding allocations and self review and appraisal systems.

To ensure the optimum quality and alignment of branch plans, Commerce is focusing on:

  • reviewing its planning processes, to ensure strategic alignment at minimum compliance cost;
  • strengthening the process for branch risk profiles and business continuity plans; and
  • reinforcing, by such means as ensuring a common set of values, a consistency across branch plans.
