1. Introduction
1.1 Information Included
This is the ninth annual release of the Ministry of Economic Development's information paper on IT Statistics in New Zealand. This year the statistics are being released in three parts of which this is Part 2 and Part 3 will be released later in 2002. Not all of the information is new; some is carried over from previous versions for completeness. Sections that include new or updated information are clearly indicated.
Papers published by the Ministry of Economic Development that include statistical information may be found by looking in the Electronic Commerce or Information Technology sections of the Ministry's website.
New information in this paper includes:
- figures for personal use of information technology, including computers and cellular phones;
- figures for Internet hosts connected to the Internet in New Zealand updated to January 2002;
- figures for Internet domain name registrations in New Zealand updated to April 2002; and
- figures for World Wide Web sites in New Zealand updated to February 2002.
Information carried over from previous reports:
- figures for Internet hosts by population in top OECD countries; and
- figures for Web servers and secure Web servers by population in top OECD countries.
