Introduction
The discussion document "A Review of the Safety Regime for Electrical and Gas Work" was released in December 1997. This document outlined the current regime and put forward possible approaches to change as a basis for discussion.
Submissions were called for and 63 individuals and organisations responded with a range of helpful and often detailed opinions. Submissions came from a wide range of interests including members of the public and various sectors of the electricity and gas industry.
The review team is grateful to the individuals, groups and companies making submissions. Their input has been valuable both in giving direction on ways to improve the safety regime, and in raising issues not covered in the original discussion document.
Format of Submissions
The submissions were summarised following a format based around the questions and approaches put forward in the discussion document.
This document contains full summaries of all the submissions. While every effort was made to reflect the key points in each submission, the process of summarising and re-ordering parts of the text to relate to the questions asked in the discussion document may have obscured some points. If this is so, we apologise and would appreciate being advised of any significant errors.
