Profile of Submitters
4. Twenty submissions came from parties with a direct interest in the operation of the patent system, either as patent owners or patent attorneys. Extensive submissions were received from the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys, the patent attorney firms A J Park, Baldwins, and Pipers and the New Zealand Law Society.
5. Most of the remaining submissions came from parties who could be characterised as primarily users or potential users of patented technology. These submitters were mainly from the information technology and medical device industries. A submission was also received from PHARMAC.
6. While most of the submitters were from within New Zealand, three were received from Australian entities - Watermark, a patent attorney firm, the Institute of Patent and Trademark Attorneys Australia and FICPI1 Australia.
