The Statement of Intent
Document Structure
This Statement of Intent (SOI) describes what the Ministry intends to do over the next three years, and why. Specific outputs will no doubt change from year to year as agreed with Ministers and in response to our own evaluation of progress. But the broad direction of our strategy (as well as the outcomes and strategic priorities associated with it) should endure over the medium term.
Part A provides a high level outline of the context for our work, and the way in which we have structured our outcomes in response to it. It then describes the things we will be doing to achieve these outcomes, including an outline of the strategic priorities we will be focusing on over the next three years to help promote growth and innovation. Our plan for developing our organisation and our capability to achieve our outcomes is outlined in the section headed Organisational Development.
Part B of the Statement of Intent illustrates how we will use our financial resources to achieve our outcomes. It also includes our Statement of Service Performance, which describes in more detail what will be done under each Vote, together with the key deliverables and the performance standards for our outputs for 2003/2004.
