²¹ Statutory Management costs are incurred under Parliamentary Legislative Authority and are not required to be appropriated.

²² The Crown has indemnified Solid Energy New Zealand Ltd for rehabilitation liabilities arising from coal mining operations carried out by State Coal Mines prior to 1 April 1987. $0.100 million has been incurred in 2004/2005 and, based on information available, an additional $44.639 million has been provided for in the current year, reflecting the best estimate of the further liability of the Crown at this point.
