Additional Digital Issues and Issues Outside of the Review
58. Several respondents raised additional issues to those outlined in the discussion paper, including the implications of contract and licensing for copyright, the availability of licenses for electronic material, the protection of Māori cultural and intellectual property in the digital environment, secondary infringement provisions concerning file sharing services and hyperlinking.
59. A number of respondents made submissions on issues that are outside the scope of the review and related to copyright more generally. These issues include the duration of copyright protection, simplification and harmonisation of New Zealand copyright law, ownership of copyright in commissioned photographs, ownership of copyright in films, exceptions to directors' moral rights, adequacy of existing anti-piracy provisions, archiving and legal deposit of electronic works.
