Member of the Takeovers Panel

The Minister of Commerce is seeking new members for the Takeovers Panel. The Panel is established under the Takeovers Act 1993 and is a Crown entity under the Crown Entities Act 2004.

The Panel consists of between five and eleven members appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the responsible Minister.

The Panel's statutory functions include: reviewing practices relating to takeovers of companies subject to the Takeovers code, administering and enforcing the Code and promoting public understanding of takeover law and practice.

To be eligible for appointment as a member of the Panel, a person must be qualified or experienced in business, law or accounting.

Remuneration is set by the Remuneration Authority. The maximum term of appointment is five years. Members may be reappointed.
