Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons who would like to be considered for appointment as a full-time or part-time Adjudicator to the Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal.
The Tribunal was established by the Motor Vehicle Sales Act 2003. Its primary role is to enquire into and resolve disputes regarding alleged breaches of the responsibilities of registered and unregistered motor vehicle traders.
Adjudicators are appointed by the Governor-General for up to five years and may be reappointed for a further term.
- The full-time Adjudicator will cover the upper North Island
- The part-time Adjudicator will cover the lower North Island and the South Island, and will cover for the full-time Adjudicator during absences
Adjudicators must have at least five years experience as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and hold a current practicing certificate. The successful candidate will have:
- Proven ability to make balanced and reasonable decisions
- Knowledge of consumer law and its application
- Experience in alternative forms of dispute resolution
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Relationship management skills
Remuneration is set by the Remuneration Authority
