Electrical Workers Registration Board Members

The Associate Minister of Energy wishes to appoint two members to the Electrical Workers Registration Board.

The Board’s statutory functions include registering electrical workers under the Electricity Act 1992, ensuring the competence of registered electrical workers and exercising disciplinary powers. The Board receives professional and administrative services from the Ministry of Economic Development.

One vacancy on the Board is required to be filled by a person who is registered under the Electricity Act 1992 and the other vacancy is required to be filled by a person who is not registered.

In order to qualify for Board membership a person must be able to demonstrate:

  • High level strategic thinking capabilities;
  • Governance experience in a Board or Committee environment;
  • A commitment to promoting public interest and safety;
  • The desire to promote broad industry/public objectives.

The two positions on the Board are not full times ones. Approximately eleven meetings are held per annum with up to fifty days attending the meetings and considering papers.

Remuneration is in line with State Services Commission guidelines with the Presiding Member and Members receiving $500 and $360 per day respectively. The term of appointment is for three years and Members can be re-appointed for a second term following a further selection process.
