Stakeholder Engagement

Consultation is focused on gathering and sharing information about bioprospecting in New Zealand and to facilitate a discussion on how a policy framework might be structured. The government is especially interested in hearing from those either actively involved in or affected by bioprospecting activities.

Public meetings and hui

Between 23 July 2007 and 7 September 2007, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Te Puni Kōkiri co-hosted a series of 17 public meetings and hui, to which interested parties were invited to attend.

The purpose of these meetings was to discuss the information and issues raised in the discussion document Bioprospecting: Harnessing Benefits for New Zealand. They are part of a wider engagement process which includes a written submissions process.

Copies of the presentations can be obtained here.
