Innovative and Productive Workplaces

New Zealand's economy will be transformed by the ability of its globally competitive workforce to apply its skills, ideas, and technologies. Workplaces must provide the environment, incentives, and opportunities for people to be innovative, creative and responsive to change. And workplaces must have access to the highest levels of talent and leading edge research science and technology knowledge.

Labour productivity and participation must be maximised. Productivity improvements require workers to have the best skills for their jobs. Labour participation, while high, should be increased, especially among Māori, Pacific peoples, migrants, and older workers.

This theme is led by the Department of Labour.
