International Comparisons
This section provides comparisons between New Zealand's energy situation and those of major trading partners for which reliable information are available.
Data are based on Energy Prices and Taxes 4th Quarter 2007, Quarterly Statistics 1st Quarter 2008 and Energy Statistics of Non-OECD Countries, all published by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Note that data do not always relate to the same year, and some product specifications and statistical methodology vary across the different countries.
See Tables.

Likewise, New Zealand's energy prices for household demonstrated a 27% rise from 1995 to 2006. Half of this increase can be attributed to the sharp upsurge between 2003 and 2004, which was also due to higher electricity and gas prices. Real energy prices for household in most OECD countries have also increased between 1995 and 2006, varying from 9% to 40%.
