Progress Reports August 2003
Growth and Innovation: Benchmark Indicators Report 2003 provides a rich picture of New Zealand's economic performance from a growth and innovation perspective. It is a snapshot of our performance in all the key elements of the government’s Growth and Innovation Framework (GIF) - productivity, innovation, global connectedness, talent and skills, and the GIF focal sectors (biotechnology, information and communications technology, and the creative industries).
Benchmarking our performance through the indicators will enable us to measure our progress in achieving the GIF goals. The indicators will also allow us to test the framework’s assumptions over time.
A second report, Growth and Innovation: Progress Report 2003, is the first in what will become a series of reports detailing specific advances that New Zealand has made in implementing GIF.
The progress report highlights the initiatives taken in the two Budgets since the framework was released in February 2002. It also indicates that the government has been implementing growth and innovation-focused policies since 2000.
