APEC
APEC is the primary organisation promoting trade and investment liberalisation and practical economic cooperation in the Asia Pacific region.
The Ministry supports New Zealand's international responsibilities on behalf of the Government through its involvement in many aspects of APEC's work, both in terms of broad issues such as competition policy or standards & conformance and in individual sectors such as telecommunications and energy.
In addition, the Ministry participates in building on the outcomes of the APEC Small & Medium-Sized Enterprises Ministerial Meeting and business fora, and on New Zealand's responsibilities as chair of APEC in 1999.
